SYMBIOSIS TOUR

VOLUMETRIC INTERACTIVE VJ PERFORMANCE

Symbiose (“Symbiosis”), created by Milkorva and 36° for The Absolut Company Creation (TACC), is an interactive immersive performance where audience movements become light and visual matter in real time. OVVO Studio designed and operates all creative tech, developing the custom tools Ministry – a volumetric VJ performance environment – and Unitrack – a multi-sensor data management system with the experimental Pixel UI – to bring this fusion of art and audience to life on tour.

INTERACTIVE VOLUMETRIC VJ

Symbiose (“Symbiosis”) is an immersive performance imagined by Nicolas Milkorva and 36° for The Absolut Company Creation.

In this universe, the audience becomes an active participant: their movements, captured by LiDAR sensors and other detection technologies, are translated into generative visual and light landscapes. The installation reacts instantly, transforming collective energy into a living organism where every gesture leaves an imprint.

French Tour · 2024-2025

From the early stages, OVVO Studio acted as creative tech consultant, designing the technological architecture and guiding the artistic team in its implementation. Two proprietary tools were developed to bring this vision to life:

  • Ministry, an integrated volumetric VJ performance environment, multi-layer, multi-output, and multi-device.
  • Unitrack, an advanced multi-sensor data management and filtering system, featuring the experimental Pixel interface.

On tour, OVVO Studio oversees and operates the entire creative tech, ensuring a smooth, precise experience faithful to the artistic vision.

MINISTRY

Ministry is one of OVVO Studio’s first generalized software tools, built in TouchDesigner. It follows the principle of an integrated production environment: previsualization, processing, launchers, VJ-ing, external inputs, mapping, and outputs are all housed in the same software.

The interface is fully adaptable: it can be stripped down for a minimalist look or expanded to meet the artistic and technical demands of the installation.

Currently, Ministry can handle up to four independent outputs, each running a distinct interactive visualization—the equivalent of four separate machines or installations—processed entirely in real time with minimal latency.

Key features:

  • Multi-layer, multi-output, multi-device.
  • 3D digital twin feedback for control and previsualization.
  • Direct integration of external feeds via NDI.
  • Architecture designed for immersive, stage-based, and interactive environments.

UNITRACK

Unitrack is a companion software developed by OVVO Studio to unify and filter data from multiple sensors (Ouster LiDAR, ToF, structured-light cameras).

Since this summer, Unitrack has integrated the experimental “Pixel” UI, designed to make working with complex parameters fluid and intuitive. Pixel hides technical complexity until it is needed, while maintaining maximum clarity. This long-term development will gradually appear across all OVVO Studio software, including the robotic installation OK. Robot.

Key features:

  • Advanced filtering and unification of point clouds.
  • Spatial segmentation into user-defined zones.
  • Virtual camera animation for dynamic tracking.
  • Output of processed data to creative systems via NDI or Spout/Syphon.
  • Pixel interface: smooth navigation, clear hierarchy, futuristic design.
